  • Internship at GIWS Associates Limited
Jun 23 – Sep 23. Day to day

During my summer internship, I had the privilege of working under the mentorship of a Director / Intern Programme Manager, engaging in a diverse array of projects.

I was given responsibility for the generation of existing and proposed plans, elevations, and site diagrams for a diverse portfolio of projects and coordinating and issuing these plans through digital platforms such as Planning Portal and Red Bridge. I also had the opportunity to engage with various regulatory bodies, Councils and safety teams, fostering productive relationships to ensure on-time delivery of projects by gaining approvals at varying stages.

While the majority of my internship involved adhering to precise project briefs, I also had the opportunity to make valuable contributions to the progress of several projects. I was able to demonstrate my abilities to deliver tactically and at pace, whilst also offering strategic contributions by way of design innovation when appropriate.

My internship provided me with the opportunity to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. It was a chance to immerse myself in a busy architectural firm, gaining valuable insights into the intricacies of real-world project delivery, including the essential aspect of meeting strict timescales. This experience has been instrumental in shaping my understanding of the profession and has solidified my commitment to pursuing a career in architecture.
